In a graph some of us have seen, they appear to be down 5dB at about 34 Hz, with a narrow, anomalous little dip at 60 Hz in the Klipsch anechoic chamber, but the chamber only has sidewall support out to about 4 feet. Had he not made his comment about buying a new pair of Khorns, I would have not said anything. Everyone claims that it can, but can never say just exactly how. Regarding the 511 change I have a split center, I think I am going to by a single horn and build a new HF box for it to A/B and decide from there. For the record, I bought an original set of Altec A7-500s in 1968, and they are still my main speakers - modified, of course. I have owned both and I felt the 19's had a flatter response with a more realistic sound. Very much a turnkey speaker system. Comparing Altecs to wouldn't suggest that any BRAND of speaker is necessarily better, but would say that the speakers all are different. Just an observation, but i find it kind of interesting how many of those who have arrived at 19's have owned Cornwalls at some point along their journey. I tested them using some Altec CDs and also K-55 and Selenium D-250X. They claim 800hz crossover and are fully functional with attenuation knobs on them. Therefore, of course I agree. Many Altec sheets used to say their tweeters went out to 22K Hz, but I have never seen this confirmed by other testers. That is why so many "tweakers' swap them out for Altec, JBL or other drivers. Many may know that I've been building for about 35 years.
